About InGrants

Internal Grants Review System

InGrants is Meru University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) dedicated Internal Grants Review and Management System designed to streamline the submission, evaluation, and administration of internal funding opportunities. The platform provides an efficient, transparent, and paperless workflow for managing research, innovation, and commercialisation grants across the university.

Developed to support the Directorate of Research, Innovation, Commercialisation, and Extension (RICE), InGrants enables staff and students to apply for funding easily, collaborate on proposals, and monitor the progress of their submissions from initiation to award. The system centralises all internal calls, such as those from the Grants Writing Teams (GWTs)Small Internal Research Grants, and Innovation Prototype & Commercialisation Calls- within a single digital environment, ensuring consistency, accountability, and compliance with university research policies.

Core Features

  • Transparent Evaluation: Each application follows a standardised review process aligned with institutional and national research standards, ensuring fairness and quality assurance.

  • Grant Monitoring and Reporting: Funded projects are tracked through progress and completion reports, supporting the university’s monitoring and evaluation framework.

  • Communication and Notifications: Real-time updates notify applicants, reviewers, and administrators of key milestones such as submission deadlines, review outcomes, and funding decisions.

Purpose and Impact

InGrants strengthens MUST’s internal research ecosystem by promoting a culture of competitive grantsmanship, improving proposal quality, and enhancing readiness for external funding opportunities. By digitising internal grant management, the system reduces administrative bottlenecks, fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary teams, and ensures compliance with ethical and institutional requirements.

Ultimately, InGrants contributes to the university’s vision of becoming a research-intensive, innovation-driven institution by enabling researchers and innovators to focus more on developing impactful solutions aligned with national priorities, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Kenya’s Vision 2030.
